ATTN: Four Winns Liberator Owners

I have a 1987 Four Winns Liberator 241. I am putting in bolsters, which I have not seen in a Liberator. I also am going to put all new gauges and would like to see different dash setups. I would like to go with autometer gauges and maybe some new dash panels. I would like to see Liberator pics and hear about anything you have to say about them.

I have looked all over, but cannot get the deadrise spec on my boat. I am assuming a 23 Deg? Lets talk Liberators. MT :drink:

I had a 1988 211 Lib with a 540. Great boat , lotsa fun. I added additional gauges the same brand as factory with surface mounted pods on the top of the dash. Second water temp , water pressure and oil temp. Didn't have a digi cam back then so I don't have any usable pics.
The only reason I got rid of it was I wanted the reliabilty of twins( after being towed in the third time). Also considered removing the 540 and drive , cutting the engine hatch in half and moving the back seat rearward to the end of the floor Then adding another gas tank and bracket mounting two large eggbeaters. May have worked out pretty neat but I figured I would NEVER be able to recover near what it cost me. So I bought bigger and sold it.

Funny, but I've never bought into the theory of the "reliability of twins" To me, having twins just means you are twice as likely to break something. And considering how often a boat has problems, why double your chances of having an issue??

On the other hand, that theory does work great with the "wife" when it's time to step up.

It did for me :D :D

I broke an engine coupler and got home on one engine.
I blew an oil line and came home on one engine.
Ignition trouble and came home 10 miles at 10 pm at night.

And everytime it was the starboard engine with the power steering

Seeeeee theeere.........Exactly my point! Now, if you didn't have that starboard engine you never would have broken down at all.....................:D

Of course, maybe I'm just makin' excuses for not affording twins....:D

I had to answer this one...
The deadrise on your boat is 22 degrees according to the Four winns web site. Since four winns was taken over, lots of the old manuals have been scanned and posted as pdf files.
Go to Fourwinns.com click on customer service, then literature. This will put you into the literature archive. go to fast facts, click on 1988 (farthest back they go for fast facts), then click on technical specs. The info is there. You can even download a copy of the original color brochure.
Hope this helps.

Of course , had it been the other way around...I'd have been towed in three times :( :(
