tunnel ram intake

what is a tunnel ram intake and what does it actually do? i was thinking aoubt purchasing it for a 509 ci. bored to 551ci with 645 horse. here the intake i was interested in http://www.cpperformance.com/detail.aspx?ID=4101
what gains could be expected?
