Cleaning electrical connections.

Hi,

I am having some problems with electrical leakdown on my boat.

I have traced the circuit that i believe to be the problem and have come across some dodgy looking block connectors behind the dashboard.

Whats the best way of cleaning the connectors up and what can i put on them to prevent further corrosion?

Thanks.

Re: Cleaning electrical connections.

radio shack has a cleaner for contacts. works great then spray with a sealer or even a clearcoat.

CRC electrical contact cleaner and then a wire brush. Dielectric or lithiun grease will protect from further corrosion. Make sure the cleaner dries well before current is applied ... is is highly volatile!

Ther are two others to look at--CorrosionX and BoeShield--excellent products if you can get them. Both originally developed for aircraft industry and both have websites.
