Re: Fuel pump recommendations
I like these pumps. Can get them with the USCG vent tube also.
Clay Smith pumps are the original 6 valve pump and flow 140gph. http://www.hotboatpics.com/pics/data..._chevy-med.JPG |

Re: Fuel pump recommendations
I have CV products pumps on my seawater pumps with about the same power. I tried some of the other pumps, but none would maintain fuel pressure. The CV is expensive, but with 3 internal valves instead of 1, it will easily supply your engine. It is also a simple bolt on!

Re: Fuel pump recommendations
Carter HV bolt it up to the top half of the stock merc pump. Less than $100.00 and run all 1/2 inch lines.

Re: Fuel pump recommendations
Just wanted to put my $0.02 in: The electric Holley's work, but they are the loudest poorest built pumps out there. The Mallory is gear-rotor which is quiet and same operation principle as some oil pumps. Mechanical seems good, but the idea of something else flapping back and forth at 5500rpm (actually 1/2 that for fuel pump pushrod off cam lobe) is preventable with something that just spins in a circle like an electric. My vote is 1. Mallory, 2. replace the bottom half of stock with Carter HV as mentioned above. Aeromotive seems cool, but their hour rating is kind of short for expected life.

Re: Fuel pump recommendations
I ended up getting the electric Mallory 140 Marine pumps and the Waterproof Painless Wiring kits. I think all I need now is the oil pressure safety switch and I will be good to go. Mallory's instructions say nothing about running a return line on this model pump??? Anybody running them without a return line?
