I have a 496 Mag HO with a 4lb Pro Charger and I just removed mine about a month ago and noticed ZERO difference. Same speed....same RPMS. I'm thinking about putting them back in.

I did mine early last spring and noticed nothing significant other than a tad bit louder. Of course my caveat is that i see very little lake-like smooth weater to really get a solid bead on 1 or 1.5 mile per hour gains.

It is primarily a drip pan concept in areas where condensation periods are pevelant. The flip side it does open up roughly an inch or maybe two in diameter for the pipes to breath easier i.e. header concept. Mine were pretty clean after two seasons so they hadn't seen much condensation action prior to removal. I would suspect if you pulled yours and they were clobbered with rust or calcium buildup, then i would leave them. When I sell my plates will go with the boat for sure.

Condensation is pure H2O so there will be no calcium or other deposits.

Does anyone know if an 05 496 mag (non ho) has these?
