Jacobs marine ignition ? ?
 
I am looking for a Jacobs marine Ignition and found that they have been bought by MR Gasket and no longer have a marine application.I have had great luck with their ones in my truck ??


OK Question ??

You know where I can get one???

Or should judt get oiver it and go with MSD Crane???

I got a SBC in a 1986 style boat ??? thanks guys

What ignition/distributer is in it now?
Mercury Thunderbolt?
Mallory with points?
Delco?

I would just leave it alone, seriously... You won't see a darn bit of difference. I put the Jacob's system on a Merc. 502 mag and it did nothing. Save your money or play with props if you want a little more performance.

IMHO the Crane is the way to go. I like the retard feature. Before I went blower motor I used 89 octane. When I could not find 89 I just flipped a switch and it knocked out 2 degrees of advance. I did not notice any gains but my carb was slightly rich, the Crane cleaned up the plugs and improved the idle a good bit.

I haved used the Jacobs with great success!! On my first Procharged boat it cleaned up the plugs which used to foul with long idle times AND it added 500 rpm on the top.
I would just keep trying Ebay for awhile.... I found two complete ones there last summer. :drink:
