Bravo movement side-to-side

Hi,

I have a 95 34 powerquest with bravos. Was putting the props on today before the ice melts and noticed one of the drives moves more than the other from side to side. So when looking at them from the rear and grab the drive there is about an inch movement from left to right.

There were no vibrations when I put the boat away.

Is this a problem? If so, what is the cause?

Thanks!!!

Jeff

Check your gimbal rings.

You might want to think about external steering, the cheapest will be an add on type or go all the way with full hydraulic.

Re: Bravo movement side-to-side

whil you are moving the drive back and forth shine a light at the steering shaft(the pin that goes through the top of the gimble ring) Watch to see if the steering shaft moved witht he gamble ring or if it stays still if it does not move with the ring, try lossening the two nuts and retorqueing them to 55 FTLBS you may have to loosen and retorque them a few times, this should be done every hundred hours and even more often if you like to beach your boat and sandbars and let the drive beat on the bottom. If this oesnt solve your problem and the play is a t the gimble then you need to change your gimball ring and possibly your steering shaft. and if thats the case all i can say is have fun.
