Just be sure you change the belt out every 75hrs or 2 seasons on the Jesel stuff. They will tell you they last forever but trust me I know...I had a belt de-laminate....luckily it was at idle...just after coming off a 6200 rpm run.... I talked with Jesel and they had "never heard of that" before but did say they recommended changing them every 300 passes... If you figure 15 seconds a pass thats like every 75 minutes!! If you figure 1min a pass for start-up to shut-down thats only 5hrs of running time!!!! I left the Jesel guy speechless on that one.....but obviously boating is not quite like drag racing.

I would think spring pressure and RPM would have something to do with the life span of the belt. Jesel told me to replace the belt every 40 hours.

JESEL all the way. Ran one on my 540 SuperGas drag motor, 290#'s on the seat, 7500 thru the lights, changed every 100 or so runs. Never any sign of impending failure, just cheap insurance for my titanium valves. Standard equipment on every NHRA Pro Stock car, and they only run the best.

As mentioned above, even at 1 minute per run, that's less than 2 hours between replacement.
