Motor to come out. What to check?
One of my 575's has to come out because my tech believes a tooth on the flywheel is damaged/broken.
What else would you check while the motor is out and access is unlimited? (motors have 219 hours) Here are my thoughts: New plugs Check coupler New PVC valve Check for corrosion - refinish as necessary |
Re: Motor to come out. What to check?
Install new bilge pumps. Even if yours is working fine, most cases the motor needs to be pulled to gain access.
Bill, you are a MADMAN!!! Kurt :D |
Re: Motor to come out. What to check?
Bill, Consider replacing the raw water pumps while the engine is out. A lot easier access. I did an engine pull for Lowrider a while back for the same reason. I replaced anything that was difficult to get to with the engine in the hull.

Re: Motor to come out. What to check?
Lower shift cable on Bravo drives, Check water passages in transom assy. It is a rubber hose that has a ferrule on the end and depending on the age and if it is a salt water boat the passage will actually corrode and squeeze off the water supply to the sea water pump. Much easier to check while the engine is out.

Snug up the oil pan bolts. Both engines. Check torque on harmonic balancer bolts, both if you can reach it.
