Re: Engine HP

My engines look like this carm;

9.5:1
6055 al rect port heads 2.19/1.94 valves
cam - 278/292 564/567 lift 112lsa 110icl
Still noodling intakes, but victor jr single plane looks best
KE headers
800cfm dp holleys
470 cid @.070 over bores
4" stroke

DD 20000 says 515hp @ 5500rpm and 537 ftlb @4500. Pretty flat torque curve from 3000rpm on up.

I personally would go with the rect port heads, but no one else will agree.

BT :cool:

Re: Engine HP

I have mentioned this several times in other threads regarding my cousin's 454cid (bored to 461cid) engines. He made 461hp @5100rpm and 510 foot pounds of torque. This was accomplished with a Comp flat tappet hydraulic Cams 218*/226* on 110* lobes with about .515" lift, dual plane aluminum high rise intake, 800cfm Holley carb, 8.6 comp ratio, junk GM oval port heads that were modified with 2.19" intake valves and 1.85" exhaust valves, bowl/pocket ported by JimV. Dyno'd on Tom Earhart's dyno here in Michigan with dyno tubular headers. My cousin runs a GIL exhaust system so power will be less than with the tubular headers that were used on the dyno----I would say perhaps a 20-25hp decrease or so. I forgot to mention that his engines DID have a bore notch job done to them which is supposed to be good for an extra 20-30hp according to JimV.

Not trying to argue with anyone, just telling the results were got of the dyno with those parts combinations. Have FUN! :)
