Adding a trim switch to the throttle

I have a Kiekhaefer dual throttle and dual shift unit serial # 39481 and would like to add a trim swith to one of the throttle levers to control both engines, and also add the necessary diode unit. I can then use the present dual trim switches to independently control each motor's trim. Does anyone know if Mercury makes a switch and wire unit that I can add to my existing throttle lever? Or maybe just replace the one throttle lever? I really don't want to replace the entire assebly as these are rather expensive....

Thanks, TJ

Don't know about Merc, but Gaffrig makes a neat billet add-on trim switch holder for most throttle handles.

I don't want an add on switch - I want it to be in the throttle handle.

Thanks, TJ

Yep, you can order the parts from Merc. I did the same thing on my last boat, but used it for my tabs. So same thing as you want: single switch in throttle to control both drives/tabs, and also keeping the 2 dash switches for independent operation. Your throttle handle is already hollow,( just peel of the red sticker) to accept the switch. Just have to drill an acess hole to run the wires out of there.
