STELLINGS 12" SETBACK BOX ?

What Do You Guy's Think. Will Have Merc. 600 Hp/sci With Xr Drive. I Like 12" Stelling. But I Understand You Have To Remove Merc. Driveshaft Damper On The Flywheel To Bolt Up U-joint Shaft. Any Problems With Setup. Boat Is A 30' Single Motor Superboat Total Weight Around 45000-5000 Lbs.

I would recommend the Imco unit with the solid shaft set up. Several of the shafts are pictured in the swap shop section. This allows you to keep the shock dampening coupler. When things go wrong with the Stellings drive shaft it gets bad in a hurry. The only draw back is that with the Imco the drive has to be in alignment with the engine, requiring either raising the engine or shorter drive.

I've seen a surprising number of Stellings boxes "secretly" running the Imco torsion shaft. The imco shaft absorbs a lot of the shock loads that will shorten the life of your bravo.

Iv'e seen alot of problems with the Stellings boxes. they dont seal well due to the rubber gaskets that they use for the acsses plates. Every new set of gaskets I have ever installed are tottaly deformed when they come in and are a pain to get to line up and never realy seem to seat properly. The carrier bearing assembaly in the box is kinda cheesy too. they shim it up with washers to line it up wich is budget to me(putting washers under a rectangular piece of flat aluminum) They are also pretty hard on drives due to the lack of a rubber coupler.
