Coupler

I would like to replace the engine couplers prior to reinstalling the engines after a rebuild this off season. I remember reading a Teague tech question in PB about 2 part numbers, the 861523A9 (standard) and the 861523A11 (HD long snout coupler). He had recommended the standard coupler due to better heat dissipation and indicated he had seen more spun HD couplers than standard. Just wondering what your thoughts or experience is on this subject. The HD coupler "looks" to be a nicer piece. Is one rated for more power than the other? Thanks!

Re: Coupler

Not sure on the power rating but I have defenitly seen more HD couplers fail due to serperartion(spinning) then the standard unit. most coupler failures are due to two things, improper engine amignment and lack of lube If youre not running high HP I would recomend going back with the standard coupler.

I found out the the HD coupler will not fit with my '89 bell housing. A $400 mistake...

Thanks for the replies. Anyone else have or choose to replace their couplers?

I just replaced mine with the heavy duty steel spline coupler. I have 680 h.p. I am putting through it.
