Engine coupler replacment poll...
While you have your engine(s) out to replace or rebuild do you worry about replacing the coupler(s) between the flywheel and your outdrive?

Re: Engine coupler replacment poll...
HD all the way!
Cp performance has them also Marc at BAM. Dual springs. |
Re: Engine coupler replacment poll...
I would do it. It is not a good feeling for that to let go at 10 at night.

Re: Engine coupler replacment poll...
Only if it needs it.
Why replace a perfectly good coupler just for the sake of replacing it? But if it does show questionable, then by all means. Standard for normal applications. |
Re: Engine coupler replacment poll...
If you have one w/aluminum splines they should be replaced no matter what because they sometimes strip suddenly with no real warning,Smitty

Re: Engine coupler replacment poll...
jadento, do you still have your 27 Baja? Just curious.
If you have the opportunity to change the coupler out, I would go ahead and do so. |

Re: Engine coupler replacment poll...
I did this last spring after I stripped one out, I replace both at the same time with the HD's and there is a huge diff. You won't go wrong getting the HD's!!!

Re: Engine coupler replacment poll...
I have heard the extra thickness/depth of the HD couplers spline makes engine to drive alignment even more crutial. I.E. if it isn't correct the splines wear worse or faster? Is this true?
