Re: Kiekhaefer parts?
Steve, if I recall correctly on the levers w/o trim buttons, you will either have a #12 on one side, and #5 on the other side of the knob to screw both halves together, or 2 #12 that just snap in from both directions. Been a couple yrs since I did my retrofit. The red emblems #4 are just peel and stick that stick to #5 & 12. When I ordered my parts to convert to the in handle trim, the emblem was included with #5. Just a heads up so you can double check with Marc on what parts you will need.

how hard was the in-handle-trim to install? while i have everything out being repainted ive been thinking about adding it. its only money  |
Re: Kiekhaefer parts?
Not bad really. Hardest part was making the tube to run along the handle and down into the base. Had to cut a little off of the forward stop to allow for the added thickness of the tube. Course could have just ran the wires in shrink tube down the side of the shifter, but I prefered the factory look. I just drilled a hole in the bottom of the knob to hold the top of the tube and for the wires to enter the steel tube, then made a clamp to secure the tube to the lever below the rubber boot, outta sight. I do prefer the flush type on my current boat with Gaffrigs now. Looks cleaner. But that worked great.

I just bought the trim switch that fits inside the handle for $15 from Kendor Marine 5713 W Ryan Road, Franklin, WI 53132 | Phone: (414)-421-4370, but it says Formula on it, if it is going on a Fountain you could black out the formula writing. cant post a pic but PM me if you want me to send you a picture.
I am having my sticks chromed so just figured for $15 might as well replace it while it is apart. Jeff H |
What is the best way to remove the center piece on a KIEKHAEFER throttle?
|
Not sure of the best way, I damaged mine seperating them but I already had the new ones in hand. They have two plastic poles male and female that interlock them together. Not real sure if it can be done without damaging them.
