Required Char-Lynn valve?
I want to upgrade my Rocket to a power hydraulic steering system for a single Bravo, single ram hydraulic steering system. I have the wing plate, steering ram (8"/9" choice) and transom fitting. The problem I have is that I do not know what Char-Lynn valve I need. Any info would be helpfull.

Re: Required Char-Lynn valve?
Are you looking to install Full Hydraulic Steering or add on?If you want full Hydraulic Helm is Hyd. Then the Eaton/Charlynn Helm that I used on My 20' Cig is 211-1001 that is 4.5 CU. to the revolution, this is a power assisted helm.Your power steering pump is utilized.I have a single Marine Machine 9" cyl.If you just want an add on system. Then you would need a Brazil valve.I know that Imco Sells those.I hope this helps a little. You might also be able to buy a helm from Northern Hydraulic pretty reasonable.

Re: Required Char-Lynn valve?
Shoot me an email, PM, whatever. I'll send you a schematic of what you need. Buy it from me or anyone else but at least let me help you figure out what's needed before you start ordering parts.
I will give you a killer deal though! :D Fionn [email protected] |
Re: Required Char-Lynn valve?
Bobby,
I did this years ago.. went from a single cylinder add on to full hydrualic. I ened up with 9" cylinders and it steered very hard. I found I had too much volume in my helm, switched to a smaller one, the effort is better, but still not one finger like my buddy's.. He has 8" Imco cylinders, not sure about rod dia or cylinder dia. but his helm was 7.346 cu in. I am sure Lofty can put you in the right direction.. Good luck, full hydraulic is the way to go. |
Re: Required Char-Lynn valve?
The 90cc helm is usually for the single ram systems and the 120cc for the dual ram systems. I have a 120cc helm and a single ram and it seems to work pretty good.
