But they were able to exceed 120 mph in less distance than it took the four blades to get there, and they did not hit the rev limiter. Now we're getting somewhere. :D |

Any more testing ?

Re: 32 Skater with supercharged Rtech 800EFIs
Still waiting on final prop testing. The five blade Merc didn't seem to help top speed. Discussion with Bruce Bullock, the local Skater dealer, pointed towards the Hydromotive P5. He said definitely not the P5X; I guess stern lift is not needed with this hull. Most likely tests now are 36 Bravo or 36 P5. I'll report the results as soon as available.

Re: 32 Skater with supercharged Rtech 800EFIs
The owner has gone to Throttle Up for Hydromotive five blades and testing program. We hope to have more results soon.

Re: 32 Skater with supercharged Rtech 800EFIs
The latest results are 125 mph @ 5400 RPM using Hydromotive P5. Learned today that all prop testing has been done by setting the trim at the red marks put on the indicators by Skater. They haven't played with the trim at all to max out speed with any of the props tested. That's the next step. Hey yahoo, you got any experience trimming cats at high speed? :D

What pitch were the P5's?

Re: 32 Skater with supercharged Rtech 800EFIs
I have just a little bit (Ha Ha).
Ask little bill about his trip to argentina ? |
Re: 32 Skater with supercharged Rtech 800EFIs
Pitch was 35".

Re: 32 Skater with supercharged Rtech 800EFIs
Was the boat on the rev limiter ? I would not go any higher on the pitch, its too hard on the drives.
Change the pitch in the drives. Cant wait to see you guys on the poker run. Curtis Morris |
Re: 32 Skater with supercharged Rtech 800EFIs
Rev limiter is set at 5600 RPM, at least that's where it seemed to hold with the 34 Bravo props. Nobody had a set of 36 Bravos to try so they started playing with 5 blades. I'm not sure the boat needs 5 blades. Throttle Up says they can repitch the P5s but I think the boat may need less blade area, not different pitch. Yes, we are on the verge of needing a drive ratio change.
When I plot the before and after data I get two different hull curves, with the after curve being more resistant to speed. This could be related to the trim, to the blade area of the 5 blade props, or even to the IMCO drives due to different drag and/or power absorbed by the gearcase. Who knows, too many variable changed at one time...more testing is needed. yahoo...you wouldn't have a pair of 36 Bravos would you? |

Here is a pic of the boat at the last TOPPS run. This is a proof of a shot that we will be using in articles and advertising.
This concludes our presentation... :evilb: |
