Hard to shift
I changed my throttles and now it is difficult to shift out of reverse. Is there a preferred method of setting up the Gaffrig controls on a standard Bravo one?
It probably makes sense to start from step one and redo everything since the throttles do not throw 100% either. |
Re: Hard to shift
You actaully have to pull the drive to set shift properly in a Bravo. There are a couple of special toll sthat wou will need as well they arent that expensive though. just get the right tools and the manual and you will be in buissnes

Re: Hard to shift
john.sblendorio,
If you just put new controllers in gaffrig has a screw on each of the bases (hinge point) of the controllers that you can loosing or tighten to change the drag on the shifter or throttle levers. You will need an allen wrench to make the adjustment. By pushing the levers forward, if I remember correctly you should be able to get to them by pulling up the rubber boot that is at the base of the levers. Loosing the screw will decrease the drag and tighten to increase it. Also if you need more throw on your throttles there are screws that can be adjusted on the lever stops to increase or decrease the range of throw. |
Re: Hard to shift
Its also a sign the lower gears could be going. Evertime I found it hard to shift I was replacing gears a couple weeks later.

Re: Hard to shift
Shift cable adjustment has always been critical with the Bravo drive. If you messed-up the shift cable adjustment with the installation of your new controls, you will mess-up the shift lever in the upper and will eventually need major service.
