what snythetic gear oil should i run in a ssm#3'a drive? does it have i high pressure shock absorbtion additive? thx, for any info, ratman

All i've ever used is good old Mercury Hi-perf gear lube. I usually add Dow corning gear guard. It's a moly extreme pressure additive.

My buddy uses Mobil synthetic in his #3's he claims it's the next best thing to sliced bread.

HP or any Syntheitc should be fine.

Mobil-1 is a good choice I have used it. It is a PAO fully synthetic lube with a great balanced GL-5+ additive package.

We Used Some New Stuff From Torco In A Set Of #5s With Good Results. I Had To Order It Through Torcos Distributor In Florida. His Name Is Jeff And His # Is 321-269-1498. Its Worth The Effort To Order, We Gained Speed!

I asked Mel Riggs that same question when he rebuilt a 3A for me and he said to use the Merc HP gear lube. So I do.

I talked to Joe at my local marina and he sees speed when going Torco in the bigger drive as well.
