Dashboard Covering
Most of the flat surfaces on my dash on passenger side and drivers side are pretty badly faded/oxidized. The factory finish in this area is black gelcoat.
Is it possible to cover the area with vinyl? Seems like a good near term fix that wouldn't cost any more than buffing/compounding. Would appreciate it if some upholstery trim folks would thrwo me some ideas about this "fix". |
Re: Dashboard Covering
I was at the vinyl shop friday. they had a carbon fiber look vinyl that I think would look great for a dash . I think it may be a good idea.

Yup there was a thread about this a while ago. Some guys did it in Vinyl. They looked really good actually.

Re: Dashboard Covering
It will cost you more than buffing it out. If you want to do it, you can lay vinyl down with glue. If it were me, I'd lay down 1/8 inch closed cell "Sculpting" foam first and then the vinyl. Use High Temp. adhesive (spray is fine). Use an old dough roller to smooth it out.
Good luck. |
