Re: Factory racing
I was fortunate enough to race with Fast Eddie in his Superboat in Savanah in 2003...the water was pretty sloppy and the boat ran great...it was alot of fun!F1 class was some of the most intense racing the sport has ever seen.Give it time it will come back.It would be great to see you back out there Eddie!

Re: Factory racing
Faster Daddy, What speed are you guys running, Talked to Dave Stiff yesterday, he said another boat is on its way.
|
Re: Factory racing
I stopped racing F-1 when the kilo record was set @ 89.63mph

Re: Factory racing
This is just a FYI post. For some unknown reason SBI/APBA changed the F-1 rules to not allow the cockpit inserts like those in Flashwave, PropCo, and Screamin' Eagle 29' Warlocks. The inserts don't affect speed or performance at all and are just an addition to the race boat version of the 29' Warlock. There are then three Warlocks not available to race in F-1 because of this rule. Ours has been turned into a pleasure boat but remains available for F-1 racing if the rule is ever changed. If you want to increase the F-1 count you might consider this.

Re: Factory racing
Allen,
You need to read the rule book again and if you have any question you should call SBI. From my understanding your boat is legal as is the other Warlocks. |

Just an idea for the class. I understand you guys have a vision like many all have. but clouding a vision by telling people with pod cockpit designed raceboats that they need to spend the money to convert it first is not a way to help grow the class. Let those boats race this year with a signed statement that if competing for the 2006 in F1 they need to spend the money to have it converted back to a pleasure style cockpit. If it is an issue of performance, EASY fix add weight. I think for anyone no matter who it is to tell some one they need to spend such and such more to compete is not a way to grow the class. Shame, I bet some would buy those boats if that ruling was not in place or maybe the sellers would change there minds and run it there self this season. But then again what do I know. If a guy wants to run an older boat find a way to get him out there with least minimal expense the first year. If the class reps see it as having an advantage have those reps run the boat and see what the MPH is and so forth. I would think the class would do the most it can to accomadate more racers if feasable.

Re: Factory racing
I'm sure if any boat was interested in racing F1 they could contact SBI and John could contact the class and we could talk about it and possible vote on it as a class same as we did in Atlanta.
So if there are any teams are interested lets hear from you, if not it doesnt really matter at this point. Rules are not going to be change or voted on till we have a reason to.... |
Re: Factory racing
Mark,
The SBI Kilo in F1 that I set in Aug. 2003 was 87.68 mph in my Fountain @ 4600 lbs. with a sealed 500 efi. Ran 86.12 mph in Aug of 2002 with Lt. Reggie the year before. I think it still stands, I know Bennys 89.63 got knock down because of drive height rule. |
Re: Factory racing
I was around when Benny and Mitch set the record at over 89mph for the kilo...I also haD the fun running the Kilo against Frank and racing that same weekend they set there Kilo in Wahington, NC. They all set there records with the rules that were set at that time...lets not take that away from either team....This years F1 kilo record will be another one with the 496....
I have to agree what is being said here....a few years back, to many people complained about the F1 rules...and it hurt the class....the current system is great....the acutal teams will vote on any new rules that may come up...I know all 5 team members...all of which are great guys on and off the race course...these guys are the first ones to vote on anything that will get more boats out in F1....but to speculate on here just hurts the class like it did a few years ago....we as racers got what we asked for...a vote in our class on rule changes....any F1 team with any questions should contacted SBI/APBA with concerns...everyone else should leave it up to the Organization and the teams who have invested into that class...lets not get off on what made this thread so good....a great class with a lot of great memories and many more to come..... |
Re: Factory racing
Mark,
The Fountain had a legal APBA at the time. WE had ran APBA a few year and then SBI the last few years of the F1 days. |
Re: Factory racing
Mark,
The Fountain was a legal APBA boat and raced it in APBA 2001 and 2002. WE ran SBI the last few years of the F1 days and never change the set-up on the boat the drive height was always leagal, and still is to this day. I truly believe that boat was the fastest F1 boat ever built. |
Re: Factory racing
Gino,
Are you going to tell them our little secret!!! |
Re: Factory racing
Brian & Mark,
Re edited my previous post for you guys. Here is a question for the F1 guys. What significant performance advantage would an older F1 race boat have with a pod cockpit the newer boats or even older boats with out it???? Just curious to the thought or the vote turnout that made this ruleing. Appolagies and Thank You, :drink: :drink: :drink: |
