Chris,

To avoid any last minute confusion with the Fans and maybe some Racers, could you have OSO edit this thread title to read Ortley Beach Race Roll Call?

Afterall, this town deserves the credit for hosting the event. :drink:

See ya's in Ortley!

The race in Ortley Beach next Friday is very special to the Jersey
Boyz. We will take this opportunity to honor our fallen friend, Doug Lewis
with an award in his name. Next week marks one year from when we lost
our friend to a rare form of bone cancer. Doug was a true competitor
both in a race boat and a hospital bed. He fought the fight of a champion
and lost the final round. His energetic spirit, good-natured humor and
knowledge of performance boats and racing engines have been sorely
missed by all of us that knew him. For these reasons and many more, the
Jersey Boyz will honor their friend by dedicated this race to Doug Lewis.

At the awards, a special trophy will be presented by Doug's lovely wife
Leeanne to the team that exhibits the greatest degree of sportsmanship
during the two-day event. The Doug Lewis Sportsmanship Award is
sponsored by Doug's close friend Tim Sharkey of www.SharkeyMarine.com. Our
hope is to have this race and this award help to keep the memory of Doug
Lewis fresh in our hearts and minds.

Before race teams leave home, please download the Ortley Race Pack at
www.oparacing.com under the heading of "Paperwork". In the race pack
you'll find information regarding hotels and house rentals in the Ortley
area. Also please download fill out all the registration paperwork,
especially if this is your first race with OPA for the 2005 season.

Wednesday - August 10th - The pits will open at 4pm for overnight boat
storage. If you want to arrive earlier, call OPA at 732 920 3945. The
pits are in the Jersey Shore Marina, on Rt 70 in Brick NJ. The marina is
about 200 yards south of the intersection of Rts 70 and 88. It's the
last marina before the Rainbow diner. Here's a map to the pits. Look for
red star. http://oparacing.homestead.com/Pits_Map.jpg

Thursday - August 11th - The pits will be open from 10 - 5. This day
is being brought to you by AMF Offshore Racing and the Twisted Sisters.
I promise you, this will be a day to remember unlike any other pit area
at any race on the planet. We are basically taking over the entire
Jersey Shore Marine. Everything is there, fuel (87 and 93, 100 is available
on the water locally), a ramp, crane on Friday and lots and lots of
space.

On Thursday the pits will be alive with the sounds of the Hot Monkey
Band. Amusement rides, food vendors, Miss New Jersey, and most
importantly, a Dunk the Racer Tank, so bring your kids and your bathing suit,
everyone takes a turn in the dunker.

· If you need higher-octane fuel, please fill up elsewhere before
coming to the pits.
· Registration is open from 10am to 2pm. All boats must be in the pits
by 1:30pm.
· Driver's meeting will be held in the pits at 3pm.
· Racer/volunteer party at the Surf Club in Ortley Beach from 6 to 8pm.

Race Day - Friday August 12th

Click here for a chart of the racecourse -
http://oparacing.homestead.com/Course_map.JPG

· Physicals from 7:30 to 8:30 in pits
· Drivers Meeting 9:00 in pits
· Race boats depart pits at 11:30
· We will run "rules of the road" with an escort to the inlet and down
to the racecourse. This means the Inlet will NOT be closed to normal
traffic and we will proceed at no wake speeds through the Inlet. Racers
should plan on enough fuel to run their race plus 14 miles to and from
the wet pits for a total of 28 additional miles.
· Enter Ocean in Pt Pleasant at 12:30
· Patriotic Parade past Surf Club 12:45
· Establish Milling areas 12:55
· Start of Jersey Boyz Offshore Grand Prix 1pm
· Start of second race 1:45
· Awards and BBQ at 6PM in the pits at the AMF Trailer.

Any questions, please reply to this email or call OPA at 732 920 3945.

Its race week and things are heating up.

Has the bug bitten you to race in the upcoming Ortley race? If so, call
Chris Reindl and lease a bat boat.

Reindl Powerboats will be be bringing two boats... possibly three
boats. . Anyone interested in leasing a boat for this Friday's race should
call Chris before Tues evening.

Racing a bat boat could be the experience of a lifetime. Don't let the
