Question Race Sites

As a fan who follows the races, I am curious. Does the damage caused by Katrina affect any race sites?? If so how long would it take before you could race at that site again??

I am certainly sure Biloxi, will not be hosting a race for at least the 2006 season. it maybe a few years before they can handle a event.

Is Biloxi the only race site in that area that was affected by Katrina?

Julie,It took Orange Beach ten months to get back after Ivan and we only have 55% occupancy available now.Biloxi will go faster than others because of the casinos and time is money and when we built that place it was 24-7's.Unless we get wiped out again I expect Orange Beach,Pensacola,Destin, and Biloxi will race in 2006 and I know Stan Ware has promised New Orleans in 2007. From the looks of things it will be awhile, posible years before these cities will be back on there feet, the damage is unbelieveable. God Bless them all !

Thank you guys for answering my questions. Gary my T-shirt that you gave me 2 years ago is getting alittle smaller now so next year in St.Clair I will show, it's just like you like it. I hope all is well and God Bless everyone who is working 24-7's to make it so that the racers can race in those cities. Good Luck.

Unhappy Re: Race Sites

Julie,

See the photos I just posted from Biloxi and Orange Beach. Two threads under this Racer's Section.

It is really depressing though....

Hi Gary, unfortunately our recovery effort in Biloxi will not be that quick. As you know this is a tough bunch of people in this area. But, the distruction is beyond comparison to IVAN or Camille for that matter. My place "Palace Casino Resort" is estimating 1 to 1 1/2 years to rebuild. That may be a conservative estimate according to most. Plus we faired a little better than most. All Casinos on the beach suffered total losses with the exception of some attached hotels. The hotels of which survived will be housing relief and contract workers for many months to come.
As bad as I would love to race in my home town in 2006, I am confident in saying that without a mircle and more money than Microsoft, its not going to happen in just six months.
