We won!
As of Saturday afternoon, we are the British Formula 1 RIB National Champions, just in case you don't know what one of those is I've attached a photo. 200 hp and speeds of over 70mph. We also won the Needles trophy 2 weeks before, (see other photo) which is the oldest trophy in British powerboat racing, maybe even internationally, dating back to 1932, and has been won by some of the best known names in world powerboat racing. Myself and my navigator, Graham Lawton have had the best season ever and have also come second overall (at last count!) in another series including the outboard Batboats as well!
Hope you don't mind me cluttering up this forum with British news, but I'm a bit proud!

Re: We won!
Thanks very much everyone!
I've attached some photos of our lorry which we use for the race boat, and our pick up that tows the production boat which comes to all of the races as a rescue boat - thats the one in the last photo. The middle photo is the reason the inflateable tubes or "sponsons" don't go all the way to the nose!
RLW - We race a BananaShark - it's our own brand, designed by Lorne Cambell who redesigned the steps on some Formulas not too long ago - the Fast Tech ones I think? We did the design work on the production version - the hull is basically the same as the race boat, but the deck is a 5 seater as you can see.
We race a Mercury XR2 - it's the 2 litre, 200hp (on a good day 195 maybe) running carburettors - no tuning allowed. We run our own design of gearbox extension which improves stability and we have run 72 MPH before now. The weight limit is 950 kg without fuel, and we run it at 50:1 on Castrol Biolube. The hull has 2 steps and some speed rails of our own design which give a better top end and make it a little more stable but a slightly harder ride.
Hope that fills in some gaps for you - and thanks again - we're over the moon!
