Sea Tow went on to the race course (while the race was still going) hook up to the boat and wanted $25,000.00 for the salvage. Three weeks ago Chris and I flipped “Hidden Agenda” in Huntington Beach. Sea Tow was under contract with POPRA for the entire race. Chris called me yesterday; apparently Sea Tow has been calling him and demanding $15,000.00 because they towed the (salvaged) boat to the crane area.

They try to pull that $ hit all the time...when we flipped in Miami they wanted the "salvage rate" ...not...it was still a hefty bill though.

I think everyone should have a salvage contract on board their boats. It's the easiest way to avoid a disputed claim later, along with any surprises.

Re: Sea Tow "SUCKS" (again)

We made a deal with Tow Boat at our Ortley Beach Race where we gave them a venders spot in the pits to sell insurance. In return if our racers signed up for 100 dollars. The salvage fees were washed. Our race was 7 miles from any inlet, so it was important to us that our teams had an affordable way to get back. Smitty
