I am looking into organizing a offshore event for my home town I have spoke to OSS/SBI

Question for the race teams is as follows for a divisional race what kind a prize money would you really consider above average ...so we could make a first class race with plenty of compitition.We are speaking to our sponsors and are trying to get the budget set for this run.

For a national race what would you consider a good prize purse.

I just recieved a link for OPA and will call them but what kind of boats are we talking about ...Is it going to be hard for a large corporation(bank) in my town to pony up the money for a new organization ? How do I market you to them without any history or any recognizable sponsors with your race teams .I am not down playing your organization but at least with the other offshore series we have some name recognition and (a shakey past) previous large events to go with as examples of what this yearly event can become.

The committee I am with does not want this to be a one hit wonder like past events. We have planned a large corporate charity to go along with this weekend/Poker run /1500 car show/ a 1500 motorcyle show/ a weekend of concerts at the Rock Hall etc.The sponsors for this event are very enthusiastic to this concept we have presented.

I know OSS puts on a great show but we are trying to make a
annual charity event that makes money for the charity not giving a large portion of it to just bring in one venue.That is why I asked about a Divisional race we can grow into the national race once there is TV coverage and our sponsors can see the event as a National spot light for our venue.
Remember we are spending corporate dollars so we can have fun and promote a good cause for kids ... so we need to check out all expenses for the best bang for our dollars spent.
We have the means to do this we just want to do it right.

That will be the first thing done along with some crystal trophies for each class winner. We are talking about travel money too.We want good competition and we want to see you each year after.
