Give credit where credit is do and Bill Gazelle deserves alot more credit in this sport as a racer and a friend. Hell, he had surgery during the worlds in 2004 and still came out and raced his ass off at his young age. Glad you mentioned it Scotty, I have been watching Bill race for over three decades now and admire to be in the same course today with him.
Steve Curtis and John Tomilson have been around for a long time with a bag full of winds also.

I would say Bill Gazelle.Joe Sgro started racing in 1984.Gazelle was racing in the 70s.

Joe Sgro definately had the most wins against the most competition period.He was racing against 20 boat fields in the 80s and into the 90s.He has the longest racing streak of any racer racing 21 consistent seasons

Although Jo Sgro is an icon in offshore, Bill Gazelle has be doing it for 30+
years at all levels Open class to pclass. I think he won 18 races in one year
and 300 in his career. Take nothing from Joe, but Bill Gazelle is unmatched in terms of offshore wins at all levels and still goin strong.
Gazelle raced throughout the 70's 80's, 90's and here we are in 2006 and he shows no signs of slowing up. Why isn't he in the APBA honor squadron?

So does any one know the real number of wins some of these guys have. I have wondered the same thing. With an average of 10-15 races per year on the high side and you did it for 10 years thats 100-150 races. If you won 25% of them its 25-35 wins per decade. Are there any official records?
Call around and ask some of the guys and post the numbers.

I have 7 years in and aprox. 96 races and 19 wins. What do the rest of you guys have?

I've got 2 seasons, 6 races, 2 wins...but hey...I'm just gettin' started. :D

In the late 70's---early 80's we not only had the 10 or 15 national races, we also had local club races in different states, which only hosted the production classes. I think I raced probably 30 or so times a year back then
