Outerlimits Prove American Muscle At P1 Time Trial!

The Lucas Oil- Outerlimit boat took the chequered flag in this afternoon's time trial on the river Trave, with two high-speed sprints that left the opposition in its wake. It was a timely reminder by the all American boat, piloted by Joe Sgro and Mike Fiore that Outerlimits Powerboats has the outright speed to win races in this highly competitive Evolution class. Its quickest time over two runs was 42.77 seconds, three seconds faster than its nearest rival, OSG.



In SuperSport, Briton's Drew Langdon and Jan Falkowski set the standards in the Cummins-powered Buzzi FB42. A blisteringly quick sprint of 49.46 seconds on its first run was just too quick for its rivals led by championship leaders Roscioli Hotels and Sun Lik Beer.



The Friday afternoon time trial has become a popular feature of the Powerboat P1 German Grand Prix and thousands lined the waterfront to enjoy the show. Although a short sprint event provides few clues to a boat's potential in the weekend's demanding endurance races, the straight line-speed of Buzzi Bullet and Lucas Oil Outerlimits sends a clear message to their respective championship rivals.

Hat trick for King of Shaves

King of Shaves, the Ilmor-powered Fountain of James Sheppard and Craig Wilson achieved yet another outstanding result when it won in the German P1 Grand Prix of the Sea on Sunday. It was the third consecutive Evolution class victory for the sole British entry and they now narrowly lead the championship as the focus turns to the British leg of the series at Cowes over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

Wettpunkt.com had arrived in Germany as championship leader and looked certain to finish in second until a blown turbocharger midway through the race ended its challenge leaving it to limp home in fifth place. Last year's world champions OSG immediately took advantage moving into second but were robbed on the line by Outerlimits Powerboats.

Outerlimits however was later disqualified for straying from the race course when the engines lost power leaving OSG to fill second slot with Searex Germany third.

The disqualification was a bitter pill to swallow for the Outerlimits Powerboats team who had provided the crowds with a superbly enjoyable contest after Nigel Hook and Mike Fiore re-started and began reeling in the leading boats. In the early stages of the race this all-American boat looked evenly matched for speed with King of Shaves, and more enthralling battles between these archrivals look inevitable.

The lone German entry, Searex, proved to be one of the stars of the show, much to the pleasure of the large crowds. The Fountain 42 piloted by Kurt Prufert and Siegfried Greve gave an impressive display in its debut race as did Limmi from Belgium that finished fifth.

The crews of Fainplast and Kiton made the decision to withdraw from the race following the death of fellow Italian Sergio Carpentieri, who tragically lost his life during Saturday's first round of the Grand Prix.

I sure would like to know more of the details for the DQ of the OL.
The day before a racer was killed when their boat came off plane in the middle of the course and an oncoming boat drove into the boat that was off plane.:(

Here a boat manages to manuever out of the way of the race when they lost power and now they are DQ'd for it ? :confused:

It is a real shame about the DQ. I personally dont think they should be after what happened on Saturday!
It wasnt because they stopped and drifted but is was because after they started again they were off course for too long, they neede to regain race course sooner. The area was a swiiming area for the beach and at every drivers briefing it was stated several times that if we enter this area it will be immediate DQ! No discussions!!!
So...its a real shame, but they are really trying to stick to the rule book! ( which is a good thing )
Shame they stopped, we had a good race going! Cant wait to see the drag race to turn one on TV!! We were inches apart the whole way!!!!

Sounds like it was justified in they were in a designated swimming area. OL will have their day I'm sure. That boat is awesome!

It's great that they are enforcing the rules.

I am just disappointed because that probably knocked OL out of the Points Race for the season.... :mad:
