Hydroplanes

I went on the hydro site today looking for info on the races. They had a live feed of the race and instant updates.

The offshore websites need to have a look at what they have to show the fan. I go to their sites and there is no info on the races.

shifter 07-09-2007 11:00 PM

I know a couple people.

We can always go down the dock and distract Steve David and take the Oberto boat out. I am sure he will not mind if you let him have your seat for a while.

racesdad 07-10-2007 01:31 AM

nope

mesablue 07-10-2007 02:21 AM

Ah Detroit, where else in the world has a boat race course with a debris fence in front of the grandstand.

Theres nothing like being on the Roostertail corner in Detroit MI for Hydroplanes.

I cant wait to see the Pro Series guys hit that corner

As neat as the Unlimiteds are;the Grand Nationals and 5 Litres are even cooler in my opinion. The Unlimiteds are the show ..but the best racing is in the 5 Litre Class. The 5 Litre Class is plenty fast enough and has many quality teams(20 or more at the biggest races).Teams will have to qualify for the final by racing through heat races. The racing is very competitive and intense...the first turn of thier races is wild with five or six boats hitting the corner at once often making contact with each other. This class is to the inboards what Cat Lite is to offshore.Wish I was going, have a great time.

bryanh 07-10-2007 12:01 PM

What a picture I can just picture my cat lite in between those two boats, not!

It will be fun to watch and be a small part of!

mesablue 07-10-2007 02:59 PM

There is a very cool race in Waterford MI just outside Pontiac MI called Quake On The Lake, all inboard piston hydros from 1.5 liter all the way up to 5.0 & Grand Nationals and Grand Prix's

90 or so boats turn out each year and its a world record setting coruse at the Pontiac lake receation area. nice long beach for viewing and a great time its usually the week after the Gold Cup in Detroit July 21st & 22nd.

If your sticking around in MI after Detroit for St Clair make a point to get out and see it. It really is a good time. It works out great Detroit, Pontiac, St. Clair all back to back 3 great weeks of boat racing in a row.

shifter 07-11-2007 11:39 PM

The Weismann limo is being used by my customers coming in for the Rum Run. Call IMCO or merc for their limo. :D

If you are lost on your way to Catalina, follow the white boat P1-1 platinum with the Weismann drives, It will be ahead of you the whole way.:evilb: :evilb: :evilb: :evilb:

Congrats to Tom and Dirty Curty! And Vilwock.

I heard that Jd Byrider came in 2nd but there were 2 big boats Cintron and Geico between them and Reliable. It sounds like everyone had a good time and stayed off the wall. I have not seen anything about the final race if it was close or not. Maybe Tom can give a race recap.

U-37 had a tough weekend they pulled our trans after the input shaft between the motor and trans let go and the pooor motor spun to 202% 32,000 RPM !!!!!!! and trans went for the ride. And their sunday did not go well either.

Next race.
