You're In Command Racing and C.G. SAR put on demo in Detroit
The U.S. Coast Guard's Search and Rescue Team and the #40 You're In Command Racing team put on a 2 day demo on the Detroit River for the NAACP National Conference on July 9th and 10th. To start the demo a SAR swimmer was lowered onto the Y.I.C. Race boat while in 20mph winds and then the Y.I.C. boat made a number of speed passes in front of the C.G. Biscaynne Bay vessell which was open to the public for viewing, the Y.I.C. race boat then dropped off the SAR swimmer which simulated a person overboard and the rescue helo preformed a number of rescues and hovering tactics on the river.
On Tuesday night Gino Marrone was invited to the NAACP Armed Services and Veterans Affairs awards program, with the keynote speaker, The Honorable Michael Chertoff, Secretary-Department of Homeland Security and Admiral Thad W. Allen, Commandant-USCG. The #40 Y.I.C. Racing Team looks forward to a number of events for 2007 with the U.S. Coast Guard on and off the race course. |

We saw the Your In Command race boat tied up to the Coast Guard this week on the Detroit River and were wondering what was going on. Wish I could of seen it make some speed runs on the Detroit River. That's great for Offshore Racing. Well I'll have to wait to this weekend to see some awesome speed runs by the OPS Super Cats racing at the Detroit Chrysler Jeep Super Stores Gold Cup.

AB,
Sorry you missed it....it was funny....these SAR swimmers go threw grulling trainning and have the opertunity to jump out of helos in some difficult situations....but it was to my suprised that the young man who just got of SAR school said after the run in the boat...."now that's a adreneline rush" with a big old smile on his face.... But you are in for a real treat this weekend at the races there...Have a great time.... |
