W O W, it was just a little more than three years ago when this guy Smitty pulled me to the side and said look, I'm gonna take over OPA but only if your at my side, together we're gonna make OPA and The Jersey Boyz the BEST offshore racing has to offer. Funny, at that time we were running 13 to 17 boats a race, and in our hometown of Point Pleasant, NJ. Well, we've come a long way since then, this year alone we had 84 different teams race with us and I don't think that included ME! That's a little UNITED, NO? Anyway our moto has NEVER changed. The Jersey Boyz will race where they choose and when they want to. We have always stood our ground. We back down from no one. This is what I would suggest to anyone as I always have, if you feel you can come race with OPA your welcome, if you choose not to, DON'T , it's simple, listen on talk offshore or wait till it comes on TV(If you choose). OPA and THE JERSEY BOYZ are moving forward along with The Pro Series Group, POPS and his crew, Mike Merola and his band of NUTS, Evil Ed Smith and The Blue Water Boyz, Louie The Rigger and The Long Island Crew, along with us running with SBI/APBA/UIM, BEAUTIFUL SITES, OFFSHORE RACING as well as LAKES and RIVERS and some REALLY GREAT PEOPLE. What The FUC$ MORE COULD YOU ASK FOR. Ya wana race, come race. Ya wanna Bi$ch, stay home and Bi$ch. Happy Holidays Everyone.

MANITIE 12-14-2007 04:58 PM

Thats what its all about Auige.....full steam ahead....its gonna be a big one in 08...

AugiePensa 12-14-2007 05:35 PM

Thanks Gino. The bottom line is it's all about our racers. That's what Smitty and I said from day one. We have had much help along the way, it's been tough but you all stood by us to make it happen. That's what it's all about. AND WE THANK YOU ALL. 2008, NO LOOKING BACK!

Hey Jimmy, guess I can run the old boat now. I wanted to get to race against you someday in Class 1 but I imagine the next best thing would be to run the OTC myself. That looks like my kind of ride.

Guys this thread is not about us vs them. We have all made mistakes and the bigger question is do we want to fix it? I will quote my grandfather one more time. Please think about this statement.
Great people talk about ideas!
Average people talk about things! and
Small people talk about people!
which do we all want to be?

Gregg R. not sure where you got the amount $50,000 from, the talks never got to that.
Steve M. How dare you say the OSS teams look down on OPA racers!
Gino, Cant understand a word you are saying but if I really try to read between the lines you need a better source of info or you are just pissed at OSS.
To all the smaller teams remember you may be with giants in the sport but you are the strength behind all organizations. Be honest with your thoughts and loud with your ideas!.
MD

Wahoo ATV 12-15-2007 08:08 AM

Ok, here we go. I got to ask.

Why would OPA add more classes, increase its costs, dilute the purse, increase fixed costs, over burden the volunteers and bring and pay for tech inspections, just so a few teams, that don't want to race under our current rules, can come and race with us? Why?

In OPA, I don't think there are any small teams or big teams. We are all the same size. That's what's great about that bunch of racers and crews.

"United We Race" - ? Ya' right. You don’t have to be the smartest businessman to realize that the extra costs are not financially responsible.

What about Small team with Big Engines :D

MANITIE 12-15-2007 09:03 AM

No one hear is pissed at OSS.....remember....we are all happy were we are at....read your first post....and then read this....we are United....

Every Org had teams in Key West.....that has not happend since 04....its now back....

Everything I stated was fact.....your group is the only one not on board.....thats not bashing them....just stating a fact...you guys have had your vision since day one....and all the other Orgs are happy were you are and were they are....

OSS has 4 options I listed above.....and your Org will do one of them that you guys feel is the best for you Org....

But before you say that were not United...like Augie said 84 boats registered in OPA..over 84 boats registered in SBI/APBA....Thats United....we will never have every racer on board.....to many ego's and agenda's....but we do have 85% of the racers on board.. thats better then anything we have had in a long time....

Jimmy...spelling has never been my fortaeeeeeee

Where the heck are the pics of the new boat....

Wazzup Racing 12-15-2007 09:15 AM

Ok I was going to keep it a secret till February, Here ya go. www.Bateauxnewyork.com. Seems the Captain is related. He agreed to let Augie drive. Party anyone?

TYPHOON 12-15-2007 09:19 AM

Steve, You are referring to the original OSS leadership that left the APBA and now those people have left OSS and are in OPA. The OSS leadership is a completely new bunch of guys that also have a vision of trying to put on large races to make a bigger show for fans ,sponsors and racers. What is wrong with that vision? Why cant you get past the past? we cant bring it back we can only go forward. The P class guys have always had a place to run. OPA,SBI,APBA and west coast. Yes in the day APBA gave me tons of coverage on TV and I thought I gave back pretty good entertainment value in return. APBA destroyed the F1 class and left me with a new $100k boat and no competition to race in and yes I joined OSS which offered a class that I wanted to race in. If that makes me a bad person in your eyes so be it. Augie came on here and said it was just a few short years ago and we only had 12 teams in our home town racing. Please dont forget I was one of the few teams that showed up to ALL those races and some times with 2 boats to support this sport I love. OPA could always count on Typhoon to be there. So what have you done lately?
Wahoo, Why would it effect OPA's cost and the rest of the things you mentioned? No one ever said it would cost OPA a penny. Yes it cost money to bring the OSS teams and staff but how about saying we welcome the OSS but we need to raise are own money to make it work. Again we didnt get that far.
Im afraid with all this pent up anger of a few we will never see eye to eye. OSS will go forward and develope there own race sites and we can all talk about how great the past was.
MD

MANITIE 12-15-2007 09:25 AM

Dean...you are exactly right....WHY....

ScottC...thats right...OPA looks at every team as equals...not big boats and small...we as racers have been treated with respect period....if OPA looses one boat becasue the way they have been treated....OPA takes that as a direct refaction on there Org.

Lesson to be learned....just becuase you have a lot of money or have a sucessfull business...dose not mean you treat your people right....

Like I said....why is it when things don't go the way a few racers want... that everyelse is holding this sport back...

MANITIE 12-15-2007 09:31 AM

Can you say....Party on the water.....I hate to be that captain and crew on that boat that night.....

TYPHOON 12-15-2007 09:33 AM

Gino, Many of the OSS teams that were in KW and other events were under the impression that by racing some races with other org. it would also help with the future of united for 08. It is now pretty clear that it was just a snow job to get OSS teams to those race sites but had no intention of ever recipicating back to OSS. I thought it was GREAT to see so many teams in KW and thought thank god the healing is happening. IT got real close and now has stalled again. I cant believe a race site producer wouldnt want more boats at there event.
MD

TYPHOON 12-15-2007 09:43 AM

Are you referring to the group of guys you call Boycotters? Arent they all involved now with the pro series or out of racing? Are these the guys that are holding up the sport because when they dont get there way they leave. Are they the one's you are referring to.
MD

MANITIE 12-15-2007 09:45 AM

Back to that subject on hand....

OPA already has OSS racers appearing at some of there races....they either run with the Pro Series guys or bracket racing.....why make more class's

Its taking the same approach as OSS did in 04....4 class's with a higher boat count....

If OSS want's to be United....WHY can't they respect what OPA or SBI/APBA has offered...why should anybody go back to the table.....

Lets just see how 08 plays out the way it is now.....If this year the Pro Series grows and OPA grows and SBI/APBA grows...everything will fall right into place....

Lets all race were we want in 08.....and have fun.....

MANITIE 12-15-2007 09:54 AM

What healing......

No SBI/APBA teams are going to race in OSS other then some SV teams...

OPA is bracket racing and are not going to race in OSS...

The Pro Series guys are racing in OPA and SBI/APBA

I think its great that some OSS racers are racing in a number of Orgs...thats what this sport needs....

The OSS members that raced in Key West race there becasue of the compitition and they wanted to go there...

OSS has a Org that SBI/APBA and the Pro Series guys already have the same class's.....you are just delooting the class's buy having another Org.....

When OSS had 35 boats and they were just racing OSS....Thats one thing...but now a lot of them have moved on and are racing in these Orgs....

It maybe time to look....do you continue...or do you join in...
3 Orgs can not survive....we have seen it over the years....
and some OSS members have realised that and have made a move to better the sport....

I beg to differ. There were no snow jobs. Some of the OSS teams came to events because of the event. Case in point St Clair. Why do you think all those teams were there because it was an OPA event? Why did so many teams go to Sarasota? because it was an SBI event? Wake up. Have you ever even seen an OPA banner at any event we have run? Never will. We are here to support the teams and the sites. When we left Patchogue no one said that was a great OPA race. They said the Patchogue race was awsome. No reason why anyone would not feel welcome at one of our races. Sign up and race. Leave your banners at home.

MANITIE 12-15-2007 10:07 AM

I also would call....everyone that left the APBA boycotters....thats were all this crap started....but now its back on track...and most are very happy were its going...

Who would have thought, United We Race in Offshore could be as perplexing as peace in the middle east. If anything at all is positive about this, it's the fact that each persons point of view shows a passion for this sport of ours. I can't believe it but I stay awake some nights thinking about this dilemma. I guess by now the playboy bunnies I usually hang out with in my dreams are starting to miss me.

Sorry didnt have time to call, but in regards to St Clair, OSS teams did go thier to support OPA and Haggin in the " United we Race" dream. Thats when WHM left.

I personally dont give a Rats A$$ what the organization is that hold the keys, they dont pay my way! Yet I pay my way to attend and support the vendors. If the towns dont want a bigger show so be it. But United we race is bs, just call it COME RACE with US!
