Why doesn't Fountain run in SVL
With Fountain so involved in Racing and speed records why haven't they taken their 32' Hull put there big twin steps on it made a race deck and gone racing in SVL? I'm just curoius?

They don't feel the need to dominate yet another class. :drink:

I remember some talks about that a few years ago. I think the problem was, to build the boat light enough for the class, it would have to be an epoxy hull. The cost was too high. If you look at the class, how many new hulls are out there. Most are re rigged A boats. That have been lightened.

i thought the max length limit for SVL was around 30'.
course than again their 32 is only about 29' long anyway, which would be just about right :D |

There is a long thread on it in the Fountain Owners section. Basically it is that the boat is 5" too long and they did not feel OSS would make an exception for their hull.

At this point no one wants to pay for something that may or may not work. Yes with a little fiberglass modifications it could be OSS legal at 30 feet. Who has 150k laying around on something that has never been done? I would bet If someone put the money up Fountain would get it done.

Also Bad Boys has a SVL sitting in his shop looking for a owner to rig it.
