They actually were penilized for missing a bouy and awarded 10th, :( but were running second.

And yes the telemetry system is very cool, things that american television need to make the racing more appealing to the general public. as for the 20 plus boat starts, very cool. just shows what strict rules and limiting classes can do for the sport.

Pete,

I know talking with Dan before he left for Dubai, I believed he said they were running two or three races over there. Can you keep us updated on each race if possible. Thanks Buddy!!!!
Hope all is well otherwise. I wish Cat Outboard was that big in the states. Actually I wish boat racing in general was as big here as it is overseas. Can only hope and dream for this in the future.

Not sure about the penalties in question but after watching the video above a few dozen times, in my own opinion a good majority of the fleet should have been penalized for what I see to be unbelievable. With everyone bunched together in the video it would appear that this would be the start of the race. It shows the #43 Victory Team which was just to the left of H2O(Gary and Dan) decided to cut accross the entire fleet of what I am guessing to be about 20+ plus fleet of boats and head back for a buoy which I am guessing might have been the start/finish buoy but I am not for sure. Only one team seemed to be on the left side of that buoy but not knowing the WPPA rulings on starts I know that here in the states if the fleet is very large in number you do not need to be to either side of the start/finish buoy at the start of a race unless of course stated by the officials in the drivers meetings. I do know that cutting across a 20+ fleet of boats and heading back towards them is not going to fly well with any officials what so ever no matter if you are racing here, there or anywhere and would in most cases be an immediate disqualification.

Is there a link to the WPPA website where we might learn more on this. Also would like to to see where Gary and Dan finished for the season. I am sure he is back up on the podium as always. 20+ boats at a start of a race is awesome and they are cat outboards that makes even better for me.

I believe theis is the official finishing for the 2008 season.
