VHF Antenna Where do I mount it?
 
Class 5 OPA where should I mount VHF Antenna for best results? I bought the 3 foot stainless one and a mount to put it on the bow rail? any ideas ?

We have ours in the cabin, and it works fine.

Just another option....You might try a 7 or 8" rubber whip similar to an antenna used on a handheld. The antenna base would mount above deck,CNC connector (threaded type preferred) and a S/S backer plate of 8"x 8" would mount below deck....The backer plate should be grounded,creating a ground plane.

Note: when the antenna is removed from the base, water can enter the co-ax and cause corrosion. Corrosion can change the ohm value and RF performance.
