Where do you get them and how do I figure out what length I need??

Got mine from Florida Wire & Rigging Works inc

We have one that was used on a 38 Fountain.

call a local crane business and ask them where they get there rigging from. also heres a link to a company we used in fl. and they have stores thru-out the country

How do I figure out what length I need?? We used Jim Simmons set for his 34 Phantom and it lifted the nose way too high compaired to the back......

You need to find your CG. That is where the hook should be placed, then measure a good angle for the top of the triangle so not to place too much stress on the deck eyes. Our lifting point is about 15 above the canopy.

normally the CG is closer to the back lifting eyes. so your back straps that attach to the master link ( the big steel ring that all the straps attach to and gets put on the crane's hook) are normally shorter by 6" -12" inches, depending how far foward the front eyes are. unless you have access to a crane and some adjustable chain slings it'll be a craps shoot.

another pointer is to have the back lower than the front. this way you can have a reference point at the transom when setting the boat back on the trailer. also all lifting straps go down in weigth capacity when you load them at an angle other than vertical. the greater the angle the less the load capacity. plus it puts more load on the lifting eyes.

Divide the verticle weight on each strap by the cosine of the angle on the strap to figure out the tension in the strap and stress on the lifing eye.
exp: at a 30 degree angle, if a strap is supporting 3000lbs of vertice weight, the strap will have 3464 lbs of tension.
Then add a huge factor of safety and take good care of them.
