Is this (CBS TV) the last big one?
With many bridges burned and a weakened economy shredding our numbers, is this the last big chance for Offshore to reach the mass market? This is CBS Television!Eight one hour programs WILL be broadcast into the living rooms of most of the United States.
Frankly, I'm tired of chasing the sponsorship dream. But I have never had this kind of ammunition to work with. This is huge exposure. Team Throttle Up had planned to run a pretty conservative schedule this year. Now we are planning to run the table. My thought process has changed from thinking of sponsorship requests as welfare to seeing significant value for all concerned. Millions of people will be seeing these broadcasts. I have already ordered a small set of SteveQuickJeweler.com decals for our boat. Why not? In eight hours of viewing everything will be sold. I am amazed at the impact this could have for all of us as individual teams and the sport as a whole. So, my question was: Is this our last big chance? If someone see's something I am missing, let me know. Steve Quick Team Throttle UP Propellers |
You are right on it Steve! Great news for the sport!

Hello Steve, this may not be the last BIG chance but it definitely is the BIGGEST, our sport that we all love, ever has gotten !!!!
THIS IS IT !!!!!!:ernaehrung004: Scott DAREDEVIL Racing |

Before this schedule and deal were announced I noticed a completely different film crew at the Miami race. The production will be appropriate for network television. This deal is signed, sealed and delivered. SQ |
Allow me to rephrease
Have we lost our minds?
This CBS deal is now reality. The perception of Offshore Powerboat Racing will be formed by these shows. And it won't be what you as participants believe. You are to close to the forest to see the trees. Never have so many people been exposed to what we do. This is not the Sun Channel or Speedvision or even ESPN. This is CBS Sports, this is Saturday afternoons early to late fall, between football games. The dempgraphic we have the most potential to appeal to is sitting on their couch channel surfing. If these shows resonate with just a fraction of that audience they will lift this sport to an entirely different level. Advertisers will look at these massive hulls as excitement generating billboards and they will want in on the action. The fallout will be huge. Next year when an Offshore race is announced in Ocean City or Ft Lauderdale a whole new group of fans will show up with an understanding of the sport. They will not be there to see SBI. They will be there to see Offshore, because they saw it on CBS Sports and it was cool. Talk about a WIN-WIN situation. We all win. I'm sorry, I really don't want to hear that these shows "might not be perfect". Why can't they be perfect? What does it take to create Offshore perfection? Boats? Water? Personalities? Competition? We can have all four in spades, overnight. If they are not perfect it will be because of US. Does the definition of Offshore have to continue to be: Men who step on their own diks? Over and over? Back to my question: Have we lost our minds? If we don't rally and support this thing we deserve to continue our slow fade. This is not a call for you to desert your organization or your schedule. It is a call for any Team with a positive attitude an Offshore race boat and the cash to race it to come out and write the next chapter of our sport. If Lee and I can do this there is absolutely no excuse for most of the rest of you. SQ |

I apreciate the importance of what is starting to happen with this sport, and if nothng e,lse happens, we need to be able to conduct an interview at some point that is corect and respectful of the guys that we are on the water with. Overall, this is a lot like standing at the gates, and we will have to answer. The main reason I want to get involved is for the comeraudery and the support of the guys that are making this happen. |

Thanks Jeff .:ernaehrung004: I am a young guy, and just like the guys that came before us, this is about getting out there and having a good time and developing this as an event. Without atmosphere, there can not be an event, and without guys owning and driving these boats there will not be a sport AT ALL. If I can get along with you guys this next weekend, I am putting my chips in the hat, and I just want to make sure that I am doing my part. Overall, that is what matters. We aren't driving the big air time supercats, and that is what demands the air time. We, or at least if I get involved will just be the filler and, from what I have experienced in my time in the TV business, is what gets air time. YOU need to appreciate the gift that you have been given and just get in on the ride. I look forward to meeting the rest of the guys, and count my blessings that I might have the opportunity to share some water with you. Lets party this weekend. :ernaehrung004: |
Drunk posting now, but for a guy that live so far away from Mecca, I cn't imagine such a great God send.
Lets have a good time next weekend. I am coming to party and learn a lot. :ernaehrung004: |
