What is a normal interval for superat motors.....rebuilds in a race application....

Looking at a project and thinking of a supercat motor, they seem to have all the good internals and they are already dry sumped. Seems like they are the best bang for your buck....

We get about 6 to 8 hours out of the 750 Sterlings. With springs at the 4hr. mark. Then a full rebuild.

Had no idea that you would only get 6-8 hours of racing out of 750 Sterlings and just 4 hrs. out of the valve springs. Would they last the race season before a rebuild?

most teams get 2-4 races out of a set before refresh/rebuild, like Bill said, the vavle train takes the biggest beating due to the rpm.

Back when the 750 field was big, it wasn't uncommon to put fresh engines in every race to run up front.

Nocig - keep in mind those are at crazy high rpms. You run yours lower and you will DRASTICALLY raise the hours.

Let me know if you pursue this, it is a great package. I even put the supercat top end (worked) on my last 489" and made 695hp with a very conservative tune and pump gas. To say my headguy knows his $hit is an understatement.
