Super Vee Fury

I know that Super Vee Fury was posted in Classified for a while and now it isnt there. Wondering if the boat is sold or what?

Chris

Sean H 10-01-2009 12:44 PM

It was purchased and was rerigged with Ilmors and arnesons, the buyer is from england.

DriverofDonzi 10-01-2009 12:55 PM

Awesome! Will that Boat be race in Europe??

Chris

Sean H 10-01-2009 01:04 PM

Yes, I believe he wants to run some endurance races and possibly P1.

poddy 10-01-2009 02:43 PM

Any ideas on how it performed?

Sean H 10-01-2009 04:11 PM

probably not as fast as it was with 525's

poddy 10-01-2009 05:22 PM

have not seen too many of those Phantoms around
what speed was it with the 525's

DriverofDonzi 10-01-2009 06:03 PM

With twin 525 EFIs, it speeds up around 100-105mph top.

But as for Evolution....It has to be around 120mph, I believe.

I think Will is trying to get the boat ready to race SVU in KW. They r testing and still working on props and dial in work. It took us a while to get our boat dialed in and we r still working on it and finding more speed with every change we make. Looks like a 2 boat Phantom team in KW.....:circle:

Please explain

525's in these boats run 100 on their best day so

poddy 10-01-2009 06:37 PM

yeah i thought the ilmor's had more horses?????

it's the ASD's Rik

Thats the problem.......boat has to be slower using those things ,they suck about twice the hp of a #6 drive :bsflag:

some people will never learn

Ran over 105 before, does it now?

The boat was beefed up too, so no doubt its heavier now.

Xtremeracing 10-01-2009 10:06 PM

Sean,
It is running fast then 105, but like i said still have a lot of work to do.
We have more HP in our boat and seeing some really good numbers, the boat handles and run alot better with HP. We r getting close I think we have the drive heights finally right now, and we just need a few gear changes, and some prop testing and we should be there. It took a while to get the balance and drive height to work with the extra weight the new motors added and all the extra fuel we have to carry now. It has been an intersting project and finally paying off. We are really looking foward to see what happens in clearwater . Still have a few bug but we know it would take time, we had a great run in NY till we broke in the 14 lap. The only plus out of that was we broke in 1st place, but u have to finish to WIN.

105 in race trim? :bsflag: Wil said it ran 100 on its best with an 8,000 lb weight. It's been well over that speed already when weighing more than that with this setup. You might be surprised how fast it will run.

Don't worry, it is faster than Sean predicts. They are going to run it again tomorrow with some different propellers hopefully.

They ran 108 the first day in the water with temperature problems, loose hoses on the coolers and such and 400 lb of lead in the bow. Moving things around, addressing the cooling (those blue impellers are not good) and getting some propellers will improve the speed even more.

DriverofDonzi 10-01-2009 10:32 PM

Super Vee Fury may be old like 7 years old or what but it still can run that fast as today.

Chris

Rik 10-01-2009 10:51 PM

I don't think it will be the fastest boat out there, (wasn't with the 525's and Bravo's) but it should be when running in P1 Evo class and it can be very competitive running in the teens and most imporntantly reliable, which means a lot when you have to race back to back races in a single weekend hoping from country to country.

I didn't predict anything, just that it wasn't any measurable amount faster yet than it was with the 525's which you just stated as well... will it go faster?probably. Is it a heavier and more realiable boat now? probably.

I hope it goes 120 for the new owner, Will and everybody else involved, it's just not there yet.

Sean, from your quote it infers they should have probably stuck with the 525's and Bravos when it has went faster now than before and you know as well as everyone else, the boat was never a 105 boat and by Wil's admission none of them ever went that fast. So first time in the water, on the bump box, over heating, pumping all the tranny fluid and p.s. fluid into the bilge and still running 108 with nearly 2K more weight is a jump up and a significant one at that when this is a race setup which makes it to date more than a 10 mph bump in speed with more to come. Wil says it weighs close to 10K at this point and to make weight in P1 it will have to weigh 10,780 lbs on pull out.

If I wanted a kilo setup it would be different than it is now, but the boat should run (hopefully) in the mid teens tomorrow. If they can get the right propellers (everyone's story) maybe even more but 120.. Never. :) And it does not have to in the P1 Class Evo as an honest 110 race speed will be competitive especially when they will have to race with the new torque meters I saw in Sweden. Things will change there.

Anyone have an 18X36 6 blade Hering??

:coolcowboy: 114 is a strong number for that boat! Do you got more pics of the drives and engines?
Thanks

This is all I've got. The engines are rebuilt 700's I was told.

Damn.....this one kicks ass!!!!!!

SCRAPMAN1 10-05-2009 07:19 PM

i think there is some confusion on the different 3 different 38's will built- fury was by far the fastest and it did go over 105- the other two never went over 100 that im aware of. the boat is definitely much faster now and should easily see near the 120 mark with a prop change.

sugarstick 10-12-2009 03:04 PM

Sean

Is this the same hull that the boys in Trinidad are building.Looking forward to more boats racing hopefully they can get close on the initial setup from these guys and take it from there.
I think they are going with two 950 sterlings should be quick.
Anyway we'll stick with the training wheels...
