MikeFin, I too put my regulator where it was easy to reach, but did you think maybe they got knocked out. It does not matter where the regulator is if you are out. At the speeds these boats are capable of you need full time oxygen. very sad news, thoughts and prayers. Roger f2-15, VL-15, V-15.

I noticed that they didnt have regulators nearby. I was even more surprised they didnt have F-16 style regulators/breathing apparatus like the Geico guys... I know its a different class but I thought it was regulation.

Terrible accident, so sad, makes me more attentive just thinking about them.

I am continually amazed that these teams, many of which are funded by their governments, cannot get their safety equipment up to the highest standards. They should look to the Miss Geico team to see how cockpit safety should be done.

To race a 150mph+ boat with open face helmets and part-time oxygen is totally irrational.

My thoughts and prayers I offer out to the families and friends of the fallen... Very sad day in racing...



And just to add; in an accident of this caliber and being that the impact was so violent, had they been wearing face mask style breathing equipment the chances are very high that they would not have stayed on their faces anyway. The face mask are designed for aircraft use where they never see G Force's of a Offshore Crash. This is a dangerous sport and some accidents are simply not survivable... Very sad indeed.
