Brian....what speeds would the 26 run with a 225 and how would your boat handle with no tabs...
I just don't think it can be all built for 35k...
and I think for around 65k I could probably do it with the ILMOR...or maybe even 60k
The Activator is a rocket with the ILMOR....

Thats what stop me from doing it last time...the price came out to 55k to 60K....I know the right thing to do is go with a 200 or 250 OB....but after dealing with ILMOR...they are very professional and the support is there....and detunning them to maybe 550 would put the boat in the 75mph with a small prop...
I would just have to look into the reliability of the Honda, Merc or Evenrudes cost of lowers and how they would hold up...the ideal speed would be 65 mph....it would be a safe speed and yet exciting to watch on a smaller course...and slow enough to keep the boats all together...
If it cost 17k for the OB and you need to rebuild every year say at 5 to 6k....you would then start coming up on the cost of the ILMOR and XR which would be bullet proof...and have a true race boat...but if the cost can be 35k race ready with the OB...and it would have some good reliablity of course the OB would be the way to go....
I will just have to sit down with a rep from the OB manufactures and see what can be brought to the table...
The good thing is I have done most of the leg work 2 years ago..and still have everything...and really don't have to price everything out again...other then to see how cheap we can get a hull and I already know were the Honda 225 is at...seats, sterring, guages, wiring I still have prices here on all that...

Gino,
Get in touch with Steve Miklos. Before the LLC went south him and Mike A. were looking at boats for a single outboard class. Just a thought is to talk with diifferent outboard manufacturers. Last I hear Mercury was getting involved in the Honda series. Well it may not be called that anymore but I do remember seeing a Merc on the back of that Cougar. You might want to talk to Steve Curtis as I do believe he builds the Cougars as well.
