Gps
Any of you racers out there have some imput on what gps unit has a large display .
Im tired of rick yelling at me to slow down because i cant see the gps .:boat: |
Stupid question but could the GPS be moved to the throttle side? I mean the driver needs to be paying attention to where he's going, the throttle man can focus on the speed and balance. I know I am just an amateur, but seems pretty common sense to me....

racepak.com
it has large digits, updates very quickly, and shows tenths. which is important to me. and using my break markers. |
Gps
Racepak doesn't have GPS units-so that would be a waste of time
|
gps
Not stupid but we run one infront of rick small digital.
I run two in front of me a livorsi needle type and a garmin but the garmin dosent have the abilty to show large numbers. The livorsi is to easy to break out with if you are trying to run right on the number and we can out pace the needle. |
Here's an idea..........build your boat to run the number and forget the GPS. :party-smiley-004:
|
gps
Dont be mad that we can run the number and then some just a little over .
Whats up joe . |
Gary talk to Dan. I believe there is a digital output on most units and he should be able to set you up with an industrial display in just about any size.
|
gps
Neal a 12 inch display would be great kind of hard to race with bifocals.
|
Race pak is indeed GPS based and also extremely accurate, it updates like 100 times a second or something. You could use it to adapt a larger display if you wanted. It also will get you real time prop slip, data logging, lap counter, etc. etc. IT's cool. You may not want that much of a quick up date as your Garmin, and OPA units are much slower and you will find yourself getting passed if you only pay attention to an actual accurate speed measuring device. Another good company to look at is VBOX they are used in all sorts of motorsports and testing facilities, again 100 hz speed, Something you will not get with the GPS "Engines" as in an OPA unit.
|
PS........Don't mattter how easy it is to see, you'll still breakout, only now you'll be really pissed the rest of the race because you definitely SAW that you broke out.
|
Race Pak does indeed use GPS for speed tracking and it is incredibly accurate.

Done printed on dash so this means ill never breakout again .
Im ready lets go racing .:lolhit: Thats the cheapest fix we ever did . Ill have to call smitty so he knows we dont need a gps tracker any more since we will never break out again thanks for the tip.:bong: And augie {jersey shore}pensa your day is coming watch your back. the post man is coming HAHA. |
hey gary i have not seen your name come up in forever! give me a call sometime 734 635 1697...or email me at
[email protected] ps...racepak system (not expensive) is totally based on high speed ultra accurate gps data and accelerometers built internal to the small unit. it's what separated this system from other data acquisition systems available. you can take data with it. you can display it. attenuate it! or have a simple outputs to light a led telling you, you are within tenths of your target speed. you can get clever with it and place outputs limiting the engine to only allow the boat to go a given speed within tenths of a mph without effecting acceleration. plus have an override button. |
