2011 - OPC National Championships
My offshore brothers, you have to check out this racing if you are in the Kankakee, IL area Sept 3-5. Our team will be there and if you get a chance please stop by and say hello. This has been some of the most exciting racing we have ever been a part of, and while we love offshore and hope to return soon, OPC racing has been outstanding.

I watched films there of these little boats doin' 80, 90, 100 plus MPH, making turns that I thought only I could do in The Flying Condo and THOUGHT...These people are really fuc$ing Nutz...and I mean that in the most Respectful way. Best Wishes and Be Safe. Augie

I agree with you after watching the video myself, although from inside the cockpit it felt fine, guess that is how we all do it, on the edge, just like Augie said..... :-) I'll let you guys know how it turns out..... JK |
Well I promised I would post the results, and while the first day of racing I completely goofed my qualifying run and blew the preliminary races, basically starting the finals at the back of the bus, by far the worst racing of my career in any competition. We battled back to capture fourth place at the Nationals. The racing and venue were excellent and any boater would have had a great time watching the weekend unfold as all the classes put on a great show. Attached is what it took to go from last to forth, sometimes pushing the edge a little too much, but it makes for some entertaining video. Thanks again for all the well-wishing and stay safe while you are all out on the water....

A very long time ago before most of you were born, there was an Outboard Pleasure Craft class, OPC in the APBA.
It consisted of small boats with one or two engines on them and the class had many "Enduro" type races........Does anything like this exist anymore? Might be a nice place for an old timer to retire to.....not interested in the type of boats featured in the Youtube video. I agree with Augie...Just looking for some multi hour simple racing. |
