Dart Pro 1 VS AFR enforcer

We have a 35 motion cat that has Twin 540 NA engines. they put out about 650 hp a piece. the engines came with Dart Pro 1 heads 19200010. We are considering changing over to AFR 3001 heads as they are readily available and a bit more cost effective. i am wondering if anyone had any experience in this or any advice. i should add that the engines are nothing fancy just simple big cube engines that are hydraulic roller. max about 5900 RPM.

The reason you`re changing heads?

The Dart 19200010 is not available until april 2026 VS the AFR's are available immiedately also the Darts are 1500 or so bare VS the AFR's are 950 fully built. it is more econimical to buy 2 pairs of AFR's and change the valves for marine application than it is to buy one pair of dart pro 1's

Available and cheaper... sounds like a no brainer

what size engine are you putting the AFR's on ? the 3001 is not set up with severe duty exhaust valves

Is there anything wrong with the darts(ie corrosion, cracks, etc)? If not I dont see the point in changing them.

they are 540 cubic inch engines.

our plan is to change the exhaust valves to inconel as we are racing and holding high rpms. i am trying to find out what the intake valces are made of and if they are not severe stainless we will probably change those too.

I think what everyone is asking is, why swap the darts that you already have instead of just reworking them and putting them back on? Are they cracked or corroded or?? You will have far less money in having them reworked and can probably even do some port work if needed/wanted and still be way less than buying new and starting from scratch?

Carry on lol

The heads on the engine that was hurt are trash... they can not be saved.

an intake valve broke and then chewed up the piston which pieces went in all oter cylinders and made confetti out of the head.

Ahhhh ok that makes sense then.
