Questions About Kill Switches
RACING IN P5 SBI/OPA, DO BOTH DRIVER AND NAVIGATOR HAVE TO BE CONNECTED TO THE KILL SWITCH,IF THE DRIVER IS DRIVING AND THROTTLING THE BOAT? IF SO WHERE DO I GET THAT TYPE OF SETUP BECAUSE I HAVE A SONIC WITH TWINS AND THE KILL SWITCH IS SET UP FOR ONE PERSON?

Not sure on that.I would say yes have everyone on the boat wired to kill.He could get thrown from boat and you could get knocked out and no one would be on the boat in controll.Be on the safe side always. You may only get one chance in a bad crash.

John,Rumrunner is 100% correct,I have 2 sets, one for me as the driver and throttle man and my navigator has his own on his side of the boat.Any other questions you can call Kurt at Bandit Racing Engines at 732-477-7400 or Eddie Smith of Smitty's marina (WAZZUP) offshore racing at 732-920-3945.Augie

THANKS AGAIN FOR THE HELP GUYS! I GUESS IT'S JUST ONE MORE THING I NEED TO DO, TO GET READY FOR NEXT SEASON.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS JOHN F |
John if you have the mercury type(little baskets over the buttons) you can tie the baskets together then run two laynards one to each person. Any way you go YES wire both people just for your own safety. Pete

PETE, I HAVE THE MERCURY ONES THAT HAVE THE RUBBER CAP OVER THE BUTTOM. MY CONCERN IS IF IT IS ACCEPTABLE TO SBI/OPA FOR RACING NEXT SEASON .

John,
As part of APBA's safety inspection, they do test BOTH kill switches before every race. Never had them tested in SBI. |
It would be in your best interests to use and make sure they work... believe me ... I was tossed out in last year's St. Cloud Race and if it was not for them and the jacket and helmet I would be in worse shape than now....Safety first....

John as long as you can get both people on the kill switches and they work it should be fine i haven't read anything in the rule book other than everyone in the boat must be hooked up and working. Hope that helps if you need anything else there are plenty of here that race we should be able to come up with an answer. Pete

John the switch you have is fine, Both people in the boat must have kill switches. Inspections last year were a little lacking. We will have inspectors going over every boat prior to testing. A list of mandatory equipment will be available at the meeting. If anyone needs a copy shoot me an Email and I will see that you get one. Thanks Ed
