P5 28' length limit

Steve Miklos and APBA has listened to our suggestions and has limited P5 to a 28' limit.
This new rule was neccessary to keep "parity" in the P5 class. It was well known that a 35 or 38 footer would walk away from a 24' boat in anything except the flattest of conditions. Rarely do we see these flat conditions when racing "offshore". I'm sure owners of some 38' P5 boats will object to this new rule, but in the spirit of racing, I think APBA did the right thing.
I'm hoping this will entice some of the smaller boats to get off their trailers and race again, or encourage new teams to give it a try! Lets see "GiGi", "Not Guilty", "Carrot Top" and others return to race. At least they stand a "fighting chance" now!
Thanks to Steve Miklos and APBA to listening to the voice of reason, and to make the neccessary adjustments in the off season.

I think that this is a great idea. The only issue now is the fact that the former Outlaw A and older F1 boats that race in P4 are still going to be at a big disadvantage running against some of the bigger boats in that class.Maybe a maximum length limit should be added to P4 as well....how about 32'?As the P-Classes continue to grow, I am sure APBA and OPA will consider revisions to the current format to maximize competition in all classes; and maybe even add additional classes, if the boat counts are strong enough.

Waterboy. I agree with you 100% on your comments, but hold the line at 30ft as most of the A and F1 boats dont go over 30 ft.Then you could move up to p4 from p5 as a first step toward Fi,an you would get a good feel for 80mph racing before spending big $$ for a F1 boat. Team Vixen

Mel,
I agree that a 30 FT maximum would be the best for P4.But at the same time, I can sympathize with the guys with the bigger boats that only max out in the 70's.Even though all the orginizations are looking to limit the number of classes, maybe its time to consider adding another class to accomodate both small and big boats capable of speeds under 80mph.Do away with PV to make room for the new class....after all,PV may have had two entries all of last season combined.Just my opinion, and good luck to Joker(Vixen) this year...Magnums are cool!

P-4 under/over 30 feet sounds good but I dont think they will buy it
