F1 Speed Runs In Savannah
Who is going to do the speed runs in Savannah, now that there awarding points for doing it an additional points for every boat you beat I'm trying to get a head count in F1. Randy should be interesting to see what the new sled runs maybe we'll put a side wager on who's faster....make it alittle interesting....I'm sure Eddie would get in on that with his Super Boat....flat water, big boat he will put up big bucks...let me know Randy we still have your 2nd place money from Daytona!!!

I'm sure Eddie would get in on that with his Super Boat..
I'm not sure what you mean by that, but I have nothing to gain by this, The biggest and heaviest boat in the class, but this leaves us with no choice if we plan to race the entire season, I would just love to find some big water at one of these races. |
This is the first I have heard of this! How do the points thing work? When was this made known to the race teams? Just when you think you know what is going on in racing the pro series. I will be there to run the new boat, It should be fun. Will it be set up like a kilo run or just blast down the river?

APBA Offshore, LLC will hold time trials on the Savannah River on Friday, July 4 between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM. All Factory Series and Super Series Teams are strongly encouraged to participate. Only Super Series and Factory Series boats will be eligible to compete in the time trials, but as an added incentive to compete, each boat that enters and starts the event will receive 5 bonus points plus 2 points for every boat in their class that they beat. Speeds will be measured over a one- (1) mile course not approved for official records. Timing and actual speeds will be calculated by computer and backed up by sealed GPS units in each boat. Time Trial participation bonus points will be added to race points awarded based on the outcome of the Savannah Offshore event but will have no effect on the outcome of the race. Bonus points awarded for participation in the time trials will be included in the calculation for high point honors in the Factory Series and Super Series Classes at year end.
Boats will run by classes beginning with the Factory Classes. Following them will be Super Series Classes. Boats within each class will draw for running order at the drivers meeting on Friday morning. Each Class will launch together and report to a staging area at the upper end of the course. The first boat will be released and make its way down river to the one mile time trap. The second boat will follow 30 seconds later followed by the third boat 30 seconds after the second boat and so forth until all boats in the class have made the down river leg of the run. As soon as all boats are in the down river staging area and lined up, the same procedure will take place for the up river run. Speeds for the down river and up river runs will be averaged for final order of finish. There will be no balks allowed and only one set of runs per class entry. Teams desiring to compete in the time trials may pre-register at the APBA Offshore headquarters in St.Petersburg or Wednesday afternoon from 12:00 Noon to 4:00 PM or Thursday from 9:00 PM to 4:00 PM onsite. Boats entering the time trial event must also be safety inspected between 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM on Thursday. Any boat entered in the time trial event and failing to get safety inspected on Thursday will be subject to penalties. There will be a mandatory drivers meeting on Friday morning at 8:00 AM for all time trial participants. |

Gino,
Do you think I have a shoot at the time trails.Ran pretty good last year in N.C. and with the changes we made over the winter should be interesting to see if we can break our record from last year. But that wouldnt be fair :) Frank |
