DO A LOT OF BEGGING

1 word BE PROFESSIONAL, well maybe that's two. If you don't present your team in a professional manner at all times you can forget about any serious money. If a company feels there is any chance that you will embarrass them then you will not close the deal. Based on your avitar, you'll be footing the bill for any racing activities for a long time.

Going after sponsors is not an easy task. You need to put together a book, professionally printed, that not only sells your team but also sells the sport. You need to show them what you can provide them in terms of marketing and/or sales exposure. Having the name on the side of the boat is not enough. Do not, under any circumstances, promise TV time. TV time is spotty at best and you can not guarentee it. Event marketing is probably the strongest sales pitch for a team, especially when dealing with large corporations that spend big $$$ in sales. Instead of taking clients golfing, bring them to a race, usually some awsome sites, then put them on a rented/catered yacht to watch the race. Get them out there and into the action. Believe me, not only do the sales guys love this the clients will go absolutely crazy as well. They will also get drunk and stupid but you must still have the highest professional conduct.

We carried two hi-tech corporate sponsors. One routinely reads OSO, so they do know what's going on.

Just to add to Mr Velocity, we had our packages done by Michelle May-Schmidt and she is very reasonable and very good. She is on the board under Ftlaudgranprix
With the help of Michelle you can get an awesome Sponsorship package together.
