Key West World Championships
Key West World Championships
On Wednesday, March 31, the Monroe County Tourist Development Council voted to give the Conch Republic Boat Racing Association $80,000 in funding for the Key West World Championships to be held on November 14 - 21, 2004.
As presented, the Key West World Championships will be a joint world championship event for Super Boat International Productions and the Offshore Super Series Powerboat Racing Association. Other race teams will also be welcome with details to be announced soon.
The presentation was made by Randy Moore and Bill Spottswood of CROPBRA, along with John Carbonell of SBIP and Elaine Motl of OSS.
The City of Key West will vote on the official permits on Tuesday, April 6, 2004.

Now a truly sincere gesture towards bettering the sport would be to have SBI/OSS ask APBA to be a part of the worlds. It would be a test of whether the promotors are willing to put the health of the sport first, as opposed to egos. I will remain hopeful.

SBI has a formula that worked in 94 and 95 to bring everyone together in Key West. That same fomula can work again if APBA wants to do what's best for the sport and bring a unified World Championship to Key West in 04.

I have never been to Key West and would like to make reservations... Where is a good place to stay??? Hopefully with a view of the water/course..or very close to the race viewing are..
