Testing With The Nutz, Take II
 

While other teams are cautiously testing the waters in tropical climes, the OSSVL Nutz are in the midst of their sea trials in the cool Northeast. Today, they meet at “Mad Dog” Randy’s shop in South Plainfield, in scenic North Jersey. Will Ros gets ready to mount the new round ear 5 blade Hydro, courtesy of http://www.Throttle-up.com

Randy had a little altercation last night. “This happens when you drink and drive,” says the Mad Dog, “let that be a lesson to you.”

Randy immediately proceeds to pour illegal additive into the Wild Card tank.

On their way to the Raritan River, the gang pumps some needed ethyl.

While local street gangs decide that it might be wiser to melt into the background.

This will be our test site for the day. That’s Staten Island on the right, and the Raritan River, home of half of the chemical industry of the civilized world, to the left. No wonder these guys are Nutz. It’s in the water.

Wild Card’s Phantom is the one to be tested today. Here, Larry launches the boat at the Raritan River Boat Club.

White Typhoon is the paceboat today. The Coast Guard immediately boards White Typhoon to look for illegal contraband.

The Coast Guard decides to stay on the boat as a crime prevention measure.

Going past fine specimens of North Jersey beach houses ….

… Typhoon and Wild Card go down the river for some urban hip-hop boat testing.

New boardwalks, North Jersey style, are being built to accommodate the fan base.

Their fan base in Jersey and New York is …

Finally, in the Raritan Bay, Larry of Wild Card shoves the throttle into the wood of their Phantom.

That rooster should give you a wake-up should you land underneath it.

Under the watchful eye of the authorities, Wild Card makes a high speed pass.

Wild Card is so fast today …

… that even the high speed digital camera of the team's court photographer sometimes can’t keep up.

“That’s cool,” says Randy. Sure is. About 40 degrees on the water.

The engine sound is being transmitted to the secret Nutz lab on shore, where it is analyzed, and then forgotten.

Will’s dad, Guillermo Ros, is very proud of his son.

As the sun launches into another spectacular North Jersey sunset, the dreaded Guardian mode stops Wildcard cold. But the Nutz are undeterred. The on-board computer is being modified with a channel-lock, and the boat is good to go again.

Its already getting dark as the gang …

… tears up the narrow Raritan River at 80 mph

“Closed railroad bridge? What railroad bridge?”

The Raritan Boat Club is getting ready for some serious after-hours drinking as the gang comes back from another day of hardcore SVL testing.

OSSVL #29, the Black Nutz boat, will be tested on Wednesday in the warm waters of Fort Lauderdale.

Looks like fun - and the boat looks great.

Nice story, but Augies' party was held at Smitty's/Jersey Boyz club house in Brick NJ.

I stand corrected

I thought it was called the Raritan YACHT club? Back drop in one of the Sopranos episodes. The one where the cop jumps off the RT 1 bridge. My wife used to live up the hill from the yacht club. Used to race V-drives a little farther up the river @ Donaldson Park in Highland Park. Remember as a kid being told not to eat too many craps out of the river:eek: :eek: Do they still have the dry dock in the middle of the river by raritan center?
