Speaking of Phantoms ...

Will Ros has brought his 29 Phantom SVL, which is not a recent model, to 92.9 mph on the GPS, with APBA and OSS legal weight and half a tank of gas.

If you want to go as fast as Will, if you want to go even faster, what can you do? Buy a spanking new Phantom, of course. Will Smith, the bald eagle from Sarasota, has informed me that a new 29 Phantom SVL is reaching completion at his shop, and it is in search of a buyer. This is your chance to get the fastest boat on the circuit - - and to get it fast.

If you are serious about SVL racing, this bad boy Kevlar hull is the boat to get.

Call Will Smith at (941) 232-4026 or visit http://www.phantomboats.com

Re: Speaking of Phantoms ...

Sorry, Shane, you must race with us now at OSS, because the black boat is now illegal at APBA. See http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=81687

We can't come to you, please come to us!

Re: Speaking of Phantoms ...

Ok, last excuse: None of the Nutz boats is APBA legal! Black & Blue totally forgot to ship our engines to CRE for the annual rites of the Seals. Orange bought their HP3 off-lease, but was told to forget about racing with APBA with that engine. Sorry, you must come race with OSS.

Next is St. Clair, July 30 - August 1. And if you come to St. Pete on Sunday (as our guest) we might whisper new dates in your ears.

Re: Speaking of Phantoms ...

So OSS does not require sealed or certified engines?

Peconic 06-21-2004 09:09 AM

Re: Speaking of Phantoms ...

Vinnie:

They do. But the process is more streamlined, more cost effective, and less profitable for the trucking industry, for instance.

"Engine Seals
All engines must be certified and sealed according to procedures established by OSS.
Only Mercury Marine or Innovation may certify and seal their respective engines. It
is the racer’s responsibility to have their engines inspected and sealed. If seals are
broken, or the engine must be “freshened” or repaired, the engine must be re-certified
at Mercury Marine or Innovation. Broken or missing seals can result in disqualification and other penalties."

So say your HP525 is already sealed by Merc: No reason to crate it up, send it down to Florida, and truck it back to you. This rule was especially popular with our West Coast brothers. Save the Seals!

Mark: They do. Don't get any ideas :)
